Graduation Day Cupcakes

My cousins and I made these three dozen cupcakes for my brother's high school graduation party. We decided to make both vanilla and strawberry (a favorite among all!) and used vanilla buttercream as well as milk chocolate frosting. I made the graduation caps and diplomas out of fondant which I dyed red and flavored with vanilla extract. Everyone at the party loved how cute they were!

Oreo Cheescake Cupcakes

A batch of oreo cheesecake cupcakes also adapted from the Martha Stewart cupcake recipe book. These were an instant hit at home. As filling as cheesecake is, these were the perfect size to keep you begging for more. They were very rich and dense and tasted like oreo ice cream. To top it off, I put actual oreo cookies on the bottom of each cupcake liner which baked into chewy deliciousness.

Jilly's @ the Beach

One of the few cupcakes that survived the bike ride my friend and I made to Jilly's Cupcake bar in St. Louis. We decided to pack six cupcakes in our backpacks and by the time we got back to campus, this was the only one that looked presentable. It's a summer flavor called "Jilly's at the Beach" and the website describes it as "madagascar vanilla cake infused with vanilla syrup, stuffed with key lime custard, and topped off with a mango cream cheese frosting and a kiwi buttercream." If that doesn't make your mouth water, I don't know what will...

3 Leches Cupcakes

After eagerly awaiting the new Martha Stewart Cupcake recipe book for months I finally went out to Williams Sonoma and purchased a copy. On the way home I was flipping through the pages when the "Tres Leches Cupcakes" recipe caught my eye. As soon as I got home I ran to the kitchen and made them. They turned out incredibly moist and sweet with a perfect light topping of whipped cream and cinammon. The recipe reminded me of my nonna's tres leches cake recipe. :-)

Cookie Dough Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Easter Egg Cupcakes

These were so dense and filling because I used cookie dough for the batter, topped them off with french vanilla buttercream frosting and a single peanut butter easter egg on top. My friend's eyes filled with excitement when we surprised her for her 20th birthday with these!

"you get a big delight every bite"

Another weekly installment: new "Mostess Hostess" cupcakes at Wash U.... Didn't get to try 'em but they practically flew off the shelves!

Seven Eleven Cupcake

I was in Chicago this weekend and came across this wonderful surprise in a Seven Eleven near Michigan Avenue. This is my final confirmation that cupcakes are truly in style right now. I've spotted them on jewelry, shoes, bags, vintage hipster shops, magazine covers and now as part of a cappuccino! Cheers to you 7Eleven...

18 Cupcakes for my 20th Birthday

My suitemates surprised me with these adorable cupcakes last weekend. The icecream theme was the perfect touch or originality. Not only did it add that extra crunch but it reminded me of the ice cream man.

From Java to Cupcake...

Birthday Cupcakes

A batch of birthday cupcakes for my college roomate. My friends and I decided to have fun with the frosting and dye!

In high school, my best friend's mom gave her this recipe book for her birthday. Even though neither of us were vegan, we decided to give it a try. What followed was an adventure with the most delightful yet bizarre cupcakes every. From the "traditional" Green Tea Cupcakes which required a bulk order of green tea matcha poweder to the exotic Dulce Sin Leche Cupcakes, every recipe was a challenge. We would bring these little creations to sell at bake sales. When we told people they were vegan, they would give us either a) a slightly judgemental and disgusted look or b) a curious and fascinated look. Soon, we became pretty famous amongst the students. The rest it history. Props to the authors, Ms. Moskowitz and Ms. Romero.
